Topic: General / active players Usually it’s been active enough that you shouldn’t have to wait long for a game to start, but recently things have died down a bit as you can see. I see you’ve joined a couple of games, I’ll force “CTF 1051” to start since it’s got a good number of players in it already. |

Topic: General / active players How active is this game? I have played a few AI games and am liking it so far, would love to get in a real game, how long do they usually take to start? |

Topic: Rules / Possible change to hex gifting There are other tactics that are more prone to “spoil” the game if you are on the negative side of them. egs. Actually I have only ever seen one person seal off a border in the way you describe – at great personal cost to that player abecaus eof the number of hexes they had to give up. It is true that the enemy is stopped from gettng through but you are also then stopped from attacking back! I have looked at the game robmartin referred to. It clearly showed that the move was able to happen only because the aggressor became timid and missed repeated oportunities to conquer the other (nasty) player. |

Topic: Rules / Possible change to hex gifting Hi I agree it is annoying when you are attacking someone and they gift hexes to an ally of yours. However I don’t think you should make the above change as… 1) If your attack is successful the gifting fails anyway As someone who was recently gifted hexes as described above it does put you in a very difficult situation. You end up having to annoy either the person gifting the hexes (by allowing the attacker through anyway) or the attacker by not allowing the attack through. Personally, even though it’s a tough decision, I like the flexibility to at least use the tactic. |

Topic: Rules / Possible change to hex gifting I’m thinking about changing hex gifting so that if a hex being gifted is attacked then the gifting is cancelled and doesn’t happen. The reason for this is that gifting is often used by players to block an enemy from attacking them – by gifting hexes to an ally of that enemy. Sometimes it happens quite extensively and whole borders being closed off. I believe that it ruins the game when that happens. Anyway, I’d like to hear what others have to say about this before making the change. |

Topic: Problems / Turn not loading, game 'Reset 945' turn 22 I’ve been working the last few months in a branch of the code as I’m re-writing the AI player so it knows about CTF games – and I think I hit upon this and sorted it out a little while ago in that branch. I’m hoping to get something released in the next couple of weeks. As an aside it’s quite a big bunch of work – I’m writing the new AI in NodeJS and will be open sourcing it, allowing others to essentially create their own AI’s. Should be fun :-) |

Topic: Problems / Turn not loading, game 'Reset 945' turn 22 This may be an edgy case. I triggered the turn process but when it had processed, the screen was stuck on loading. The following javascript error occurred: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘username’ of undefined The selected hex was my last hex and it got attacked and won by an opponent. This eliminated me from the game so I don’t know if this had anything to do with the problem or not. Happy bug hunting :-) |

Topic: Problems / CTF 932 cannot do turn I’ve sorted it out. What was happening was it was trying to process auto-moves for players kicked out of the game and getting stuck in an infinite loop of all things. This was holding up processing on other games, sending out messages etc… :-( |

Topic: Problems / CTF 932 cannot do turn Hmm, it appears that it may be stuck processing and I was trying to do my turn while the game was processing. Can you give CTF 932 a kick and get the processing back on track? |

Topic: Problems / CTF 932 cannot do turn With the game CTF 932 I cannot do my turn. The tick to indicate turn done or not is not showing. I can’t do anything with any hex. I have tried reloading the page, and restarting my turn via the menu, both to no affect. Anything else I could try/look at? |

Topic: Problems / Apparently cannot load current turn - CTF Ally Test no problem, sorry it took a while. It was a typo on the javascript, no idea how that happened. Must have bumped the keyboard after I finished testing a change. |
